Magnetize Your Business!!!

On the very cold Saturday of February 6th I had the great pleasure of attending an outstanding education day event at FIT sponsored by AICI featuring Karen Brunger. Karen’s credentials are well known in the image industry. She is the Director and founder of the International Image Institute Inc. and the recipient of AICI’s Award of Excellence to name but a few.  I did not exactly understand how this event would influence my image consulting business and frankly was a bit suspect given the esoteric content.

She started by asking the question ” What are you a magnet for?” and “What do you resonate with?” This lead to discussions on scale of conciousness,  energy blocks,  higher frequencies,  chakras, visualization,  applied kinesiology – also called muscle checking,  affirmation, taking action,  focus,  passion, committment and of course faith.

As a group we performed an energy shifting exercize stating our business intentions first then chanting sounds  to solidify and reinforce our intentions. It was amazing how unified and strong we sounded.  Could there really be something to resonating energy for success.

I left that afternoon feeling that I had gained a better understanding of energy resonance and my 2010 goal will be to magnetize my business by truly being in alignment with MY SOUL’S PURPOSE and  POSSIBILITIES .  Not so bad for a freezing Saturday afternoon!

Giving Thanks

Wow,  the past 2 months of my life  have been filled with wonderful Image /Style Events that I want to share with you!

Let’s begin in Philadelphia last weekend (Nov. 21st/22nd) where I participated in an AICI Education Day on Menswear by Brian Lipstein and Body Language  Seminar by Sara Canuso.

Next day I enjoyed a visit to the  Philadelphia Museum of Art to see the  tribute to Tom Marotta (former Saks Couture VP)  and did some boutique window shopping — Joan Shepp’s fashions  and Matthew Izzo’s furniture being my favorites.

The Visitation Academy Mother’s Club hosted its annual fundraiser on Nov. 19th at Gargiulo’s Restaurant in Brooklyn to benefit Visitation Academy where I donated my Image Consulting services as well as creating 2 Gift Packages assorted with the hottest trends in accessories from my most favored resources.

The event was one of the most amazing events I have ever seen, it surely was “Christmas in November”!

“Makeover your Diabetes”  held on November 14th, International World Diabetes Awareness Day at the Riverside Church in Manhattan, made for a fabulous afternoon of education, empowerment, entertainment and enlightenment for women affected by, living with or at risk of diabetes. The event was organized by Novo Nordisk and Divabetics.  Myself and other AICI members  provided information on personal style, color analysis, accessorizing,  foundation fitting, body shape and more!!!

The Fashion Group Foundation presented “Ready-To-Wear Collections Spring/Summer 2010 Trend Overview on November 13th – the talk turned to the Alexander McQueen show which created history by allowing consumers to see his live show on the internet which may change the relevance of shows as we know them (normally this is limited to retailers, press and celebrities.)  Consumers will be seeing lots of draping, ruffling, folding, ruching, and pleating.  Jeans are big once again as well as military epaulets and shoulder-tabs!!! Will elaborate more on Spring in future blogs.  Donna Karan was the moderator and big proponent of “Buy Now, Wear Now” initiative. The panel included Candy Pratts Price /Style.com, Lincoln Moore/Saks, Linda Fargo/Bergdorf Goodman, and Jane Lakeworthy/W — It proved a wonderful discussion on the current state of retail trying to define a sustainable model.

On October 30th and 31st I had the pleasure of judging the Miss Teen New York City Pageant over a 2-day period through Nationals Incorporated.

The pageant included 4 parts of competition, day one at Crown Plaza La Guardia hotel in Queens where personal interviews were held.  On day 2, the pageant production was held at Bishop Ford High School in Brooklyn and included Casual/Formal Wear, Semi-Finals/Top Ten.  The young women were judged on interview questions and their fashion selections.  It truly was “Pageantry with Purpose,” the purpose being to empower and encourage by boosting self-esteem and confidence.  I might add the winners now go to Cities of America Pageant in Orlando, Florida where they can win between $20,000-$70,000 in cash, scholarships, and prizes.  It was a truly rewarding experience for all, the contestants were amazing!

On 10/21 I attended “Fashion Art Bravura” at the Setai Club on Wall Street in Manhattan.  The event presented Gustavo Arango’s 2010 Spring Collection and featured distinguished Latin American Artists: Leonardo Salazar, Mario Ayerbe, Raul Moncada, Andres Santodomingo, and Enrique Daussat.  It was a wonderful introduction to Latin American artists where art &  fashion truly merged.

On September 16th  the 2009/2010  AICI Board of Directors held their  kickoff  event “An evening in Paris”  at the Soho boutique Runway in Manhattan, visit www.runwayconnection.net to learn more about Runway’s offerings. All attendees shopped at a 10% discount while sipping wine and enjoying hors d’oeuvres.

I attended “A Taste of Style” on October 1st at Andreas Ristorante in Manhattan ,  AICI image consultants collaborated with  the 421 Small Business Marketing Co. in an effort to promote the importance of wardrobe and personal style in the business world.

Thank you for your time!

Enjoy a Healthy and Happy Thanksgiving!!!!                                                                                                                                                   Camille                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Brandastyle
